Hawkesbury River & Hunter Valley

NSW Trip July 2008

Thursday we flew to Sydney and picked up a hire car driving to Wiseman's Ferry for 2 nights staying in a cabin at the Caravan Park. To get to the park we had to go across the river on the ferry. We checked out the historical remains of the Convict Trail - The Great North Road which is considered one of the most important civil engineering achievements of colonial time.

From Hawkesbury River we went on to Pokolbin in the Lower Hunter Valley where there is a choice of over 144 wineries to visit and taste the wonderful array of wines. In the time we were there we managed to visit about 14 of them and can recommend the Semillon wine which is outstanding for the area.

Flying home on Saturday 26th July we arrived back to extremely cold weather after having 2 weeks of much milder climate it was a shock to the system but soon adjusted.
